August 13, 2015: Monterey Bay Record Temp

(20:02) MONTEREY- The National Weather Service recorded the highest temperature to date for the Monterey Bay. On Wednesday at 2 p.m. the bay’s data collection buoy indicated a temperature of 69 degrees. The previous record of 68 degrees was set in July of last year. NWS experts say the warm bay temperatures are unrelated to the El Nino coming out of the tropics, but are instead due to a lack of coastal upwelling. The buoy has been monitoring the bay since 1987.
