(19:17) SOLEDAD- Soledad Calfire fighters now have bullet proof vests. The department is the latest Central Coast agency to start using the vests. Seaside firemen have been wearing bullet proof vests for the last three years. Salinas has only two vests to equip its paramedics when they accompany SWAT operations. In general Firefighters use the vests when there is danger of exploding ammunition from fires. However recently in Kern county firemen have become targets of an ambush. Calfire agencies are requesting 18 additional vests.
