THE NATIONAL AUDUBON SOCIETY RELEASED A STUDY TODAY (TUES) REVEALING THE ADVERSE EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON BIRD POPULATIONS. THE REPORTS SHOW OVER 300 AVIAN SPECIES INCLUDING BLUEBIRDS, MALLARDS, AND COMMON RAPTORS ARE IN DECLINE ACROSS CALIFORNIA. RESEARCHERS SAY RISING SEA LEVELS HAVE BEEN INFRINGING ON HABITATS AND THREATENING BIRD POPULATIONS. NEARLY HALF OF THE THREATENED SPECIES WOULD BE UNABLE TO EXPAND THEIR RANGES. THE STUDY REPORTS DEFORESTATION AND URBANIZATION HAVE ALSO CAUSED HABITAT FRAGMENTATION.
