AN APTOS MAN WAS ARRESTED ON GUN CHARGES FOLLOWING A CARJACKING ATTEMPT IN LIVE OAK YESTERDAY AFTERNOON (TUES). OFFICIALS SAY A WATSONVILLE TEEN WAS IN THE PARKING LOT OF SIMPKINS FAMILY SWIM CENTER WHEN HE WAS APPROACHED BY 20-YEAR-OLD MICHAEL IRELAND. IRELAND HELD THE TEEN AT GUNPOINT AND DEMANDED HE GIVE UP HIS CAR. AFTER THE VICTIM REFUSED, IRELAND FLED THE SCENE IN A JETTA. DEPUTIES FOUND THE SUSPECT NEAR 17TH AND SOQUEL AVENUES SHORTLY AFTER. IRELAND WAS BOOKED INTO SANTA CRUZ COUNTY JAIL.
