In the last five days, there have been at least five shootings in Salinas. Some victims are recovering, while two died as a result of the shootings. 43-year-old Jose Delores Salazar was pronounced dead after the 8:30 p.m. Friday shooting on the 700 block of Holly Street, and 42-year-old Dexter Barnett Sr. was pronounced dead just after 10 p.m. Saturday night on North Main Street. The most recent shooting occurred around 9 p.m. last night at an apartment complex on the 700 block of Williams Road. The victim in that incident is in his early 20s, and is said to have been hit in the back and head. He was transported to an area hospital.
