A man was shot while trying to commit a robbery in Salinas on Saturday. Officers arrived on the 700 block of East Alisal Street shortly after 9 p.m. to investigate reports of shots fired. At the scene investigators found a BB gun and were informed that an 18-year-old had been taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm. Upon interviewing the victim, officers learned he had been using the BB gun to commit robberies when an intended victim shot him and then fled on foot.
