The arraignment hearing was delayed today (th) for the soquel man charged with murder, for allegedly intentionally driving the wrong way on highway-17 on Monday. 28-year-old eric weers agreed to waive his right to a speedy trial, so that his public defender can study his case. Public defender William weigel has been appointed to defend weers. Although the criminal complaint was filed with the court, he is expected to enter a plea when the hearing continues on july 28th. Weers is accused of purposely entering the opposite lanes at the fishhook, before colliding with 48-year-old ana luz Barajas, who died at the scene. If convicted of murder, weers could be facing 15-years to life in prison.
