ARMED/DANGEROUS INMATE BEING SOUGHT IN S.C. – UPDATED 11-29-10 13:30 a.v.

An armed prisoner who escaped while he was being transported to Dominican Hospital today is still being sought. Police say the inmate, 24-year old Maurice Ainsworth stole a gun from the deputy, who was transporting him, tased her, and then fled from Paul Sweet Road near Domincan Hospital around 11:55 a.m. before fleeing to the area between Salisbury Drive and Brookwood Drive. Several area schools were on lockdown, as of now, students were allowed to leave, however,  DeLaveaga Elementary School is still on lock down due to the vicinity of where the inmate has barricaded himself.  Dominican Hospital on Soquel and The Dominican Hospital Rehab facility on 610 Frederick Street, was also on lockdown. Police say the inmate, who is considered armed and dangerous, fled to the area of English Drive and has barricaded himself in a home there. The area of English Drive, in the Prospect Heights area, is being evacuated home by home by SWAT teams. The area of Capitola Road, 41st Avenue to Soquel Road is closed off to thru-traffic. PLEASE AVOID THIS AREA. No hostages have been reported at this time according to Police.
