The deadline to file an Argument or Rebutttal, for the Rent Control issue on the November ballot in Santa Cruz, has been extended. That after City Staffers said they made a mistake in setting early deadlines for rent control ballot arguments. Arguments for rent control can be turned in until August 17th, and the deadline for rebuttals is August 24th.
The council also voted 6-1 to remove a sugary beverage tax measure from the November ballot, in light of a state law enacted June 28TH that prohibits local governments from taxing groceries.
