A brush fire in Aptos was controlled by neighbors until firefighters could arrive on Sunday. The blaze which appeared to have started by kids playing with matches broke out shortly after 4 p.m. by the train tracks in the Sumner Avenue area of Seascape had grown to about 1-hundred square feet but was being controlled by residents with fire extinguishers when firefighters arrived on scene and were able to fully smother the fire.
