Santa cruz county sheriff’s deputies arrested a man in connection with the shooting death of a 21-year-old man in aptos wednesday. Just after 6 p.m., Live oak resident Fernando martin Mendoza-avila was shot from a vehicle on the freedom boulevard overpass of highway-1. Mendoza-avila was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle was later found in Watsonville, and the car’s driver, 21-year-old Prunedale resident alfredo alanis Garcia was arrested on murder and gang charges. 2 other suspects are still being sought.
