Thanks to an Aptos Church, The Second Harvest Food Bank will be able to distribute 1.7 million meals to those in need during this holiday season.
Twin Lakes Church in Aptos made the huge donation during the annual Second Harvest Food Bank holiday food drive. The congregation was able to raise $428,949.09 over six weeks which will allow the food bank to purchase 1,715,796 meals.
The donation marks the largest ever received by Second Harvest during their holiday food drive.
Twin Lakes Church began participating in the Holiday Food Drive in 2006. Total donations that first year were $947.70, according to Second Harvest. That compares to almost $429-thousand-dollars this year.
