SATURDAY MORNING AROUND 12:20 A-M, FIRE CREWS RESPONDED TO A THREE-STORY HOME, ON THE 9700 BLOCK OF MONROE AVENUE IN APTOS. ENGINES FROM CENTRAL FIRE, WATSONVILLE FIRE AND CAL FIRE ARRIVED TO FIND THE HOME INVOLVED IN INTENSE FLAMES. THE FIRE WAS CONTAINED WITHIN 30 MINUTES, AND A SEARCH REVEALED THE BODY OF A MAN IN THE THIRD FLOOR. TWO RESIDENTS IN THE HOME WERE STANDING OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE WHEN THE UNITS ARRIVED, AND WERE UNHARMED. THE BODY OF THE MAN ON THE TOP FLOOR IS BELIEVED TO BE THE THIRD RESIDENT. INVESTIGATORS BELIEVE THAT THE FIRE STARTED IN THE KITCHEN ON THE TOP FLOOR AND HAVE NO INDICATION THAT IT IS SUSPICIOUS AT THIS TIME. ADJACENT HOMES WERE IN DANGER, BUT THE FIREFIGHTERS KEPT THE FLAMES RESTRICTED TO ONE HOUSE. INVESTIGATION IS ONGOING AT THIS TIME.
