April 7, 2016: UC Santa Cruz Students to Vote on Future of Athletics Program

(07:37) SANTA CRUZ – UC Santa Cruz students will soon vote on the future of the university’s athletics program. The decision has been put on the table as university officials look for ways to save money. UCSC spends around $1 million every year on its Division 3 Athletic Program. If students vote against keeping the program, the decision would affect a number of sports, including soccer, swimming and track. Club sports would not be impacted. If students vote for keeping the program, they would be required to pay an extra fee to fund sports teams in the future. Students are expected to cast their votes on May 11. (S.G.)
