(08:00) MONTEREY COUNTY – A Monterey man has been convicted for mayhem and assault stemming from an incident in March 2015. Officials say 54-year-old Steven Palmer set his ex-girlfriend’s tent on fire while she was camping with her new boyfriend in Laguna Grande Park in Seaside. The woman suffered second- and third-degree burns to her face, arms and legs. Her boyfriend was also treated for burn injuries and smoke inhalation. Palmer faces 25 years in prison when he is sentenced May 26. (S.G.)
