(12:30) Santa Cruz – A mountain lion was spotted in a tree along east cliff drive this morning. At Around 8:20 a pedestrian notified authorities that there was a mountain lion in a tree above the East Cliff Village Shopping Center sign. Officers closed down the street between 14th and 17th while PUMA, Animal Control and Wildlife Rescue worked together to get the Mountain lion down. Three tranquilizers were used to bring the 80 pound mountain lion down. Once a full evaluation is completed by PUMA and Fish and Game, they plan to return the mountain lion back to its natural habitat.
