An appeal, made by a local housing association, has been denied by the Gonzales City Council. C.H.I.S.P.A. officials said the 41-unit affordable housing complex, they want to construct, would have been located near Gonzales High School. Neighbors, and some city council members, said it already takes 20-30 minutes to drive past the high school (at certain times of day), so putting an apartment complex there would just make it worse.
