The santa cruz county anti-crime team has responded to the announcement by state officials that the law enforcement program has lost its funding. Many Solano, chief of the Watsonville police department, and chair of the anti-crime team’s board, issued a statement calling the move “unfortunate.” While he said that the loss of funding creates “challenges,” the board is hoping to secure funding to continue the anti-crime team, which is a coordinated effort involving multiple central coast and state agencies. Chief Solano is scheduled to discuss the issue with rosemary Chalmers tomorrow morning, on KSCO’s Good Morning Monterey Bay, which airs from 6 to 9 a.m.
