A Salinas woman was arrested on Saturday on animal abuse charges. 51-year-old Barbara Pickett faces 7-counts of animal cruelty, after authorities found 7, severely neglected dogs in her house on Sierra Madre Drive. Health officials deemed the house “uninhabitable” due to the conditions inside, and the 7-dogs were discovered to have several health problems, including blindness and deafness due to neglect. Animal control officers seized the dogs, and Pickett was booked into Monterey County Jail.
