The president of the board of education for salinas’ alisal union school district has been charged with 2-felony counts of perjury. The charges against jose castaneda were announced by the monterey county district attorney today. The 2-perjury charges, as well as 2-charges of filing false documents, relate to an effort by castaneda to recall monterey county supervisor fernando armenta. Castaneda has denied the charges; he is set to appear in court to face the charges on june 30th.
