Monterey County Air District Simplifies Burn Zones- 11/12/14 18:30 P.S.

The Monterey Bay Air Pollution Control District has reduced the amount of burn zones used to declare permissive burn days for outdoor open burning. This change will affect prescribed, agricultural, and backyard burns in Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties. The five zone system will be reduced down into two primary zones; coastal and inland. There will also be a third zone for the San Lorenzo Valley Smoke Sensitive Area from November through April.
