A 30-year-old Gonzales man died on Sunday, after crashing his car on Old Stage Road, outside of Salinas. The single-vehicle accident occurred at 12:10 p.m., when the driver lost control and hit a tree. He was found wearing his seatbelt, but was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities believe the man was speeding at the time, which caused him to lose control. The accident remains under investigation.
