THE CALIFORNIA STATE SENATE UNANIMOUSLY PASSED A BILL THAT MAY MAKE IT EASIER TO INVESTIGATE TEACHERS ACCUSED OF GROSS MISCONDUCT, INCLUDING CHILD ABUSE, SEXUAL ABUSE, AND SERIOUS DRUG CHARGES. THE BILL CREATES A SEPARATE HEARING PROCESS FOR THESE TEACHERS AND REQUIRES SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO HOLD HEARINGS WITHIN 6 MONTHS IF A TEACHER APPEALS. THIS BILL IS A COMPROMISE AFTER A PREVIOUS ATTEMPT FAILED TO RECEIVE THE NECESSARY SUPPORT.
