A water main ruptured in Santa Cruz Friday evening. Thousands of gallons of water flooded the area causing the closure of Marnell Avenue between Melrose and Fairmount Avenues, while crews performed repairs and cleanup. Many area residents were seen collecting water in containers for future use. The Santa Cruz Water Department says the spill was relatively insignificant, stating the city uses about 10 million gallons a day.
