A small plane made an emergency landing near Salinas on Friday. At about 1:45 p.m. The pilot, 77 year old Ron Kistler of Capitola, had been performing a test flight with a newly replaced engine, and was returning to the Marina airport, when he experienced engine failure. Kistler who has over 3-thousand hours logged as a pilot, was able to land the powerless plane in a field near Davis and Blanco roads. The cause of the engine failure is being investigated.
