Sewer rates are now scheduled to increase for customers of Monterey One….on the Monterey Peninsula, in the Salinas Valley, and in Pacific Grove. That after Monterey One Water board members voted 6-4 for that rate hike. Last September they raised the rates 16 percent, and this time the sewer rate increase will seemingly be more than 50 percent for a single-family household…..even though numerous groups have requested that the company come up with a more gradual increase.
The company says they need the income so they can upgrade pump stations between Pacific Grove to Moss Landing and replace machines that are more than 25 years-old.
