While anyone caught using illegal fireworks in Watsonville faces a fine of $1,000, Safe & Sane fireworks are scheduled to go on sale in the city July 1st. More than 20 non-profits in and around Watsonville raise money by selling the Safe & Sane version of fireworks, and the rules for the use of them are that they are only permitted to be ignited within Watsonville city limits, users must be at least 18 years-old, and they are only allowed to be fired-off between July 1st and midnight on July 5th.
