Starting May 21st, climbers in Yosemite National Park will now need to get a permit to attempt a multiday climb. The free permits, are for El Capitan, Half Dome and the Leaning Tower and are part of a 2-year-pilot program, that puts climbers on par with backpackers….who have been required to get wilderness permits to spend the night in protected back country areas, for decades now.
