Recently, Santa Cruz airspace was occupied by a helicopter in the Neary Lagoon area. The helicopter was being leased by P,G & E for examining gas lines used for transmission of natural gas. The helicopter was examining the lines for leaks using a specialized laser. Over the next few weeks residents of Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito counties can be expected to see helicopters hover as low as 300 feet during the inspections.
