Monterey county leaders have been informed that up to 5-thousand children could be transported from the border to Camp Roberts in Monterey county. That has led to discussions about whether the county is prepared to house and take care of the unaccompanied migrant children….and whether putting them through a 500-mile trip in a foreign land (where most don’t speak the language ) is unnecessarily cruel.
Monterey county supervisors recently sent a resolution to the federal government requesting that these children, if they are brought here, receive legal representation….since without it more than 80% of these children could be deported.
