A 2-month trial run of using reverse diagonal parking is in-progress now in King City. This style of parking is said to reduce serious collisions, because it eliminates drivers needing to back out blindly into traffic….and cyclists and pedestrians can easily make eye-contact with the driver leaving a parking spot. Because the doors of the vehicle open toward the street, this method of parking should also block kids from running into traffic.
This style of parking is being tested on 1 side of Broadway Street, between San Lorenzo and First avenues.
