A man convicted of the murder of a Seaside woman back in 1989 has been granted parole. There will now be a 120-day period in which the facts and laws (pertinent to the decision) will be reviewed….so the governor has time to uphold, rever se, or modify the proposal….or ask the full commission to review the decision. Bradley Phillip Hardison pleaded guilty to the 1st degree murder of Sonjii Yvette Johnson so he could avoid the death penalty. Johnson, who was a material witness in a double homicide involving Hardison, was killed August 6th of 1989, when she was shot multiple times while sitt ing in a car with her brother (in the driveway of their parents’ Seaside home). Her brother suffered a gunshot wound in the shooting, but he survived. A psychologist determined that Hardison presents a statistically low risk for violent recidivism, in part because his last violence in prison was in 1996….and his last rule violation was in 2013, when he was found to be in possession of a cell phone (which was considered contraband). Hardison is being held in the Correctional Training Facility In Soledad.
