Businesses Still Open in Big Sur 02-18-21 17:51 DC

After a section of Highway 1 was washed away in January, the Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau is now reminding the public that businesses are still accessible for people heading south into Big Sur.

With the lifting of the statewide shelter in place order, several restaurants reopened for lodging and outdoor dining.

Rob O’Keefe, president and CEO of Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau, says that while Highway 1 has been impacted, Big Sur’s iconic experiences, world-class lodging and incredible cuisine are still accessible and worth the trip.

Caltrans reported on Feb. 1 that they had no timeline for when Highway 1 would fully reopen.
