This week Santa Cruz County School Districts took a major step toward reopening their classrooms. The Santa Cruz County Office of Education said it had reached out to Dominican Hospital and Dignity Health to provide educators with COVID-19 vaccinations.
Teachers are part of the phase 1b vaccine tier and now local district officials hope classes can resume in mid-March. By the end of this week, school officials expect that 1,500 teachers will have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
Preschool and kindergarten teachers received their vaccines first, with elementary school teachers in line to receive them this weekend. The school district’s goal is for hybrid-in person learning and remote learning by next month.
