On Sunday morning, Santa Cruz Police Officers were sent to investigate a report of an unresponsive male in the 700 block of Emeline Avenue.
Officers discovered male had sustained severe injuries and was found dead at the scene.
The identity of the victim or suspect are unknown, meanwhile detectives are searching neighboring video footage and searching for leads.
Santa Cruz Police also notes that this is the first homicide of the year for the city.
