The in-ground burial of veterans and their spouses is coming soon to the California Central Coast Cemetery on the Former Fort Ord. That’s because the 2nd Phase of the cemetery in Seaside is nearly complete. There will be space there for more than 1,000 in-ground cremains, and more than 1900 in-ground crypts. The 84.4 acre veterans cemetery, which first opened in 2016, was broken up into 11 phases, so that it could be funded and built-out over time. The 26-acre 1st phase included the administrative and maintenance buildings, as well as columbaria that can house 5,000 cremation urns and a committal shelter for ceremonies.
