The CZU August Lightning Complex Fires Debris Flow Map has been refined. Because of that, Santa Cruz county officials are encouraging people living in (and near) the burn scar area to review the latest maps for the debris flow evacuation zones. That information can be found on-line at: Community.ZoneHaven.com
Reportedly about 300 residences have been removed from the evacuation zone.
All residents within the updated evacuated areas are asked to be prepared to leave, or, if Property-Access Only would be impacted, should maintain adequate supplies to Shelter-In-Place for an extended duration. Debris flows can lead to property damage and loss of road access, and rescues by public safety personnel may not be possible during that time. Regardless of the risk level, all residents are encouraged to sign-up for emergency alerts. To do so, people can go on-line to: scr911.org or people can text “SCR911” to 99411 to sign up.
