The 2nd phase of a 3 phase plan to dismantle the Benchlands homeless encampment was the site of a protest yesterday (Mon) morning. A small group of about 50 protesters used mega phones as blocked police from removing campers from the area that has been deemed unsafe by the city manager. The area is deemed unsafe because it is in the river’s winter flood plane. Police were able to remove fencing from around the encampment before switching to an observational role.
