A mural that has been in South Santa Cruz County since 1999 has been renovated. Paul DeWorken of Monterey Bay Murals who was leading this project shares how he could not have done it without help from the Watsonville community.
“It was people giving their stories. Those stories that have them connected to Watsonville… It just started to evolve.”, DeWorken said.
“That’s something that is beautiful about art. So many minds, so many ideas, even from when where we start the painting process.
Paul also mentioned that this rehabilitation project involved a process of four public meetings, and that he “would like to do this for a long time”.
The project was done in partnership with the Arts Council of Santa Cruz County, Santa Cruz Metro, and the Watsonville City Council.
