A plan to move homeless campers at the Benchlands in Santa Cruz this weekend is now on hold.
About 66 campers now occupy the San Lorenzo Park Benchlands homeless shelter and are provided with tents, food and medical assistance. A new site is needed tho because the camp is located in a flood plain.
But homeless advocates say they’re having a hard time finding an alternative site but are working on a possible option of two smaller locations for homeless camps. The move is now scheduled to take place November 15th.
