MOCO Fines 7 Businesses for Face Covering Violations 10-29-20 15:30 DC

Monterey County has now fined seven businesses for not following the county’s face covering order.

The fine for the first violation is $100, for the second it’s $200 and for the third it is $500.

The county visited 1,877 sites and says the vast majority were either in compliance or have since started following the law.

Foodservice locations that received citations are being sent letters ordering them to comply immediately or have their permit pulled by the county.

Non-food service locations could be forced to face an administrative law judge after receiving three citations.

Five of the businesses cited were food services sites:

  • Aloha Coffee & Cafe in Monterey
  • Farm Fresh Produce in Moss Landing
  • Panaderia y Paleterra Michoacan in Pajaro
  • Plaza Linda Restaurant in Carmel Valley Village
  • Bagel Bakery in the Carmel Rancho Shopping Center

Each of the owners of Plaza Linda received citations on two separate days and the owner of Bagel Bakery was cited twice on separate occasions.

As for non-food service a barbershop and a gym received citations:

  • Head Honchoz
  • The Gym 24/7
