A battle is brewing between U-C –S-C and the city of Santa Cruz over water. The university is suing the city for its lack of commitment to provide a growing water supply to the campus.
But both chancellor Cynthia Larive (la-reev) and mayor JustIn Cummings say it’s a friendly feud and a step to settle an impasse over the growth plan of the university.
According to the suit, UCSC planners wanted a commitment from the city that water would be supplied under a growth plan that included 28-thousand students by 20-40. So far tho, the city of Santa Cruz has not committed and therefore the university is suing.
