A 27 year-old woman has broken a record, and while doing so she raised about $2,000 for a non-profit that brings aquatic programs to under-served communities (in an effort to reduce drownings in those communities). Catherine Breed beat the speed of the previous fastest swim across the Monterey Bay, to raise that money for Diversity In Aquatics. Her time was 12 hours and 53 minutes (to swim the 25 miles from Twin Lakes State Beach to San Carlos Beach).
