Highway 1 was briefly shut down on Friday near Morrisey Boulevard.
That after a gray kitten was discovered nestled against the median of the highway.
California Highway Patrol responded to shut down the highway while a shelter officer removed the cat from harm’s way.
The gray kitten is in custody of the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter.
