Good news on the crime front in Salinas.
Since 2015, there’s been a 10-percent decrease in homicides every year. By comparison… there were 40 homicides in 2015 and so far in 2020 there have been four. There’s also been less crime over-all.
The decrease may be attributed to an increase in police staffing. Over 15-percent more officers joined the Salinas force and there’s been a nearly 60-percent increase of Latinx officers.
