The Hollister School District Board Of Trustees voted to defund two school resource officers for the upcoming school year as a cost-saving measure.
The potential savings are approximately $230,000, and is solely for the purpose of balancing the district’s budget.
Other measures to save the budget include laying off 30 aides, removing 7 administrative positions, and voluntary unpaid furlough days for HSD administrators that remain on payroll.
Officials with the district anticipate further cuts to staffing may be needed if budget cuts persist in later years.
