The City of Seaside says that it issued 10 citations to people for violating a city ordinance that set times for legal fireworks and banned other fireworks as illegal.
Those citations of $2,500 each could potentially bring in $25,000 to the City of Seaside. Violators have a 10-day period to appeal.
Lesley Milton with the City of Seaside stressed that the city was not “doing this as a revenue source” but rather hoping it serves as a deterrent.
