In an effort to achieve groundwater sustainability (as efficiently and economically as possible), the Pajaro Valley Water board voted unanimously to move to the next step for their proposed Watsonville Slough System Managed Aquifer Recharge And Recovery project. Water collected by the WSS-MARR would be used as an irrigation supply (so as to offset pumping from the groundwater basin). A Draft Environmental Impact Report for the project is expected to be published this summer.
