A “fluid” budget has been approved for the city of Monterey. It plugs a $31-million hole left by decreased revenues due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The biggest was the decrease in Hotel Occupancy Tax revenue which generated 3.7 million dollars in March and April of last year, and only $772,000 for the same time this year. The budget for the city of Monterey’s 2020-2021 fiscal year includes across-the-board cuts, and the reduction of services (that the city provides to the community).
