Starting today (Monday), Santa Cruz Metro is requiring all riders of the local bus service to pay their fares.
Fare collection was originally suspended during the shelter in place.
Buses will remain limited in capacity as to facilitate social distancing, which means about 5 to 8 paid passengers per vehicle.
Face coverings are still required in order to ride the Santa Cruz Metro, and passes are available at various ticket vending machines. Payment cards are only accepted at these machines and the only place to pay your fares with cash are on board Metro buses with exact change.
At this time, both the Watsonville and downtown Pacific Station customer service booths remain closed.
